Reasons to be Grateful
Even though things could always be better, I have every reason to be grateful for all I have right now.
I’m grateful for the roof over my head, the healthy food that is readily available and warm, clean clothing I’m able to wear every day.
What’s your reason to be grateful?

My Gratitude is for so many things, it’s difficult to know where to start.
Primarily, I’m grateful for Jesus Christ in my life, for without his healing spirit and teaching me how to love with all my heart, nothing else in life would matter.
Thank You Jesus for Everything I have, Everything I am and Everything that’s ever happened to me in my life, for without all the bad and good things, my life here on earth could not be complete.

I am grateful to the Lord for my health, my wife, our children and grandchildren.
I’m truly thankful for my friends.
Grateful that I have a home and a vehicles that runs and rarely causes problems.
I’m grateful for the ability to earn a living.
I’m thankful for the ability to read and the pleasure that books have provided.
For education and the ability and joy of learning.
Without computers and the internet I would not have the ability or pleasure to communicate with so many wonderful people throughout the world.
For all this I thank the Lord.

Stewart,
What a wonderful idea!
I’m grateful for so many things, but for today, I am grateful to have such a wonderful family.
My children are my greatest joy, and my husband is a wonderful support and a terrific father.
I think it’s important to have an attitude of gratitude everyday.
Live the life you love, and love the life you live!

And most of all I am grateful that I am healthy so I can enjoy life at its’ best.

I was talking with a friend of mine recently who was complaining that he no longer enjoyed his work.
He said that what had once been his dream job that filled him with excitement and passion had now become a daily drudge.
I agreed that this can happen over time and that it was probably time to move on to a new career.
However, I also suggested that in order to put himself in a state to be attractive to a potential employer he should shift his feelings towards his current place.
I suggested that he list all the things he has in his life that he is in any way grateful for that he would not have if he did not have this job.
He came back to me a few days later, saying that he had filled several pages of his journal with the list and still had things coming to mind on a regular basis.
He says he is still looking for a new opportunity to expand and grow into a new career, but the urgency and the pain have since gone, and he feels far more relaxed and confident in interviews.
The result being that instead of hoping for another job, he is now selecting a new opportunity for the future. An entirely different mindset, one that is filled with hope and optimism.
The future is suddenly bright and the present is filled with gratitude.

I am grateful for so many things, but today, I’m most grateful for my family.
When I look at my kids I am often overcome with a feeling of gratitude. They are perfect, wonderful beings.

Cherish every moment.

Hi Stewart - Love the concept of your site.
You know we spend so much of our time focused on the past or focused on the future that we miss what’s here right now.
The being-ness (or whatever you want to call it) that we are doesn’t want or need anything.
It’s already whole and complete exactly as it is.
I teach meditation techniques, so you’d think I should know this already, but often I find myself forgetting!
What am I grateful for?
I’m grateful that there’s people like you reminding us of what we already know.
Peace be with you,
Matt Clarkson

Stewart, I’m grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this really cool aLittleGratitude.com project.
Thanks a million for thinking it up.
It’s so easy to neglect the many good things that happen in our lives just because of a few things that don’t go as we want them to.
So yes — gratitude is very essential.
I have so MANY things to be grateful for that it’s so hard to see me unhappy.
Even when things don’t go right at any particular moment, I dedicate blocks of time to luxuriate in the joy of things that I have or of the few good things that are happening in my life which are great… and instantly the feeling of gratitude replaces the dull moments.
So, Stewart, you are indeed right about why everyone ought to be happy and grateful. You see, the most awesome part of being grateful is that YOU are one who truly benefits each time you are grateful.
Gratitude makes you happier and ultimately more successful in every endeavor you attempt in life.
We all owe it to ourselves to be grateful if we want to live a truly successful life.
That’s why I continually try to be grateful for the air I breathe, the food I eat, the water I drink, the enthusiasm with which I have FUN each day (others call this WORK).
I am grateful for lots and lots of things — far more than this entire website can contain, :).
But seriously, GRATITUDE opens all the doors!
Finally, I am grateful for having YOU as my friend because you were indeed there for me. I hope to be there for you too when you need me, :).

The cost of life is … living it. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be living it in the good ol’ U.S. of A.
Our founding fathers said “the cost of freedom is eternal vigilance” I’m grateful for my freedom and the responsibility that comes with it.
Brian Tracy says “the cost of success is that it need be paid for in full and in advance” I’m grateful for past successes and the opportunity for future success.
This might sound a little odd but … oh heck … I’m grateful for the realization that there ain’t no free lunch.
I’m grateful for my living situation, hot and cold fresh running water, flushing toilets, loving pets (Jack, my cocker spaniel, my five cats, Ebba, Fauna, Willy, Peanut and Hennie, my 92 ford explorer with 5 speed on the floor, my job, my entrepreneurial endeavors.
I’m grateful for our differences. We, you and I and all that read this are unique. There has never been anyone like us, there isn’t anyone like us and there never will be anyone like us.
I’m most grateful for what we ALL have in common and wish this would bring us all together in spite of our differences. We have this in common …
We all want happiness.
We all want good health.
We all want to be reasonably prosperous.
We all want security.
We all want good friends.
We all want peace of mind.
AND …
We all not only want but need HOPE!
(HOPE with good reason, I might add.)
I’m grateful for faith (belief in things unseen).
I’m grateful for the absolute best medicine … laughter!
I’m grateful that I can combine faith and laughter … what does an agnostic, dyslexic, insomniac do?
stays awake all night and wonders if there really is a doG.
I’m grateful for … all of existence … the four loves … you … me … them … us …
I’m grateful for a lot more BUT I won’t bore anyone any more … so … in order to express my gratitude … THANKS! and above all … be well!

Well i’ve always said “that no matter how bad you think things are, there is always someone worse off than you.”
At the moment i haven’t got a lot, no money(i owe the bank). I feel as if i’m getting no where in life.I want to get on with things but there is always something standing in my way.
Life really gets me down at times but i’m a fighter and i know i will survive.
I have got a roof over my head and i have my son and daughter, even though at times they drive me around the bend.
I have my family and a few friends where as some people don’t.
I have many things to be grateful for, the gift of life and health are probably top of my list.
Stewart, it’s great knowing you, if your back over my way give me a shout. xx

I am grateful to god to bless me with a great family life and good health, things which we humans take for granted.
Instead of complaining of what we do not have or want ,we can all be happy if we compare ourself to those who in a worse situation than ourselves and have less than us.

Hi Stewart,
I am very grateful for coming to know Jesus - the source of my joy, peace, and direction in life. And just recently God gave me a new job and it was too timely.
At times, I feel dissappointed about some expecations that don’t happen but I believe this is God’s way of teaching me to become more mature in faith. For this I am all the more grateful because God is not finished with me yet.
God bless…

The most precious life giving thing you can give is to be grateful.
To recount in hard times all that is good.
To see in the small things that make the BIG picture.
I love to see the amazement on a child’s face who sees a rainbow for the first time.
To hold a tiny hand wrapped around one of my fingers.
To look into the eyes of my dearest friend and husband & know that ‘we’ are part of this incredible journey.
He has been there since we fell in love in high school, even though our story left us almost 20 years apart, we still were drawn back and now have our own Destiny.
She turns one year old tomorrow. I am so thankful for her!
For knowing that without a shadow of a doubt that I have given all to my children and hope that will serve them well.
I am thankful for modern medicine that allowed me to live not only with my 1st but with all 8 of my wonderful kids!
I am thankful for technology that has afforded me precious friendships across the world I would otherwise have missed.
I am grateful for those that take the time to smell the flowers, watch the sunsets, breath in the mountain air, adore the seasons, and appreciate them all.
Thank you Stewart for providing such a lovely place to share with so many - so much
I am grateful for you!

I am grateful for my health, my family, all the things I know, and somethings that I don’t.
For my past and the ability to look forward with my head up.
My friends that get me through the hard times and laugh with me in the good times.
My love. My faith.
The hard times that make me appreciate the easy times.
My freedom and the sacrifice that it takes.
The soldiers that protect me, the teachers that guide me, and all those who still stand beside me.

I’m grateful for my amazing husband and for the love that he continues to show me day after day. I thankful for everyday that I wake up and get to take another breath. I’m grateful for amazing parents who raised me to believe that I can do anything. I’m grateful for amazing friends who stick with me through anything. And most importantly I’m grateful for a forgiving, understanding, and patient God who puts up with me and continues to love me as his daughter each and everyday that I exist on this wonderful planet!
October 30th, 2007 at 4:53 pm
I am grateful for each new day, for forgiveness and the love of my husband and children. For a loving God and a kind Savior who see me through my darkest hours of lonesomeness. For belief in eternity that will be kind to me. To know that for the bad that is manifest in this world, there is an equal and great good that is in this world even if you have to look for it. For kisses from my husband that curl my toes, for kisses from my grand-babies that melt my heart. For outstretched arms of my savior that are always opened to hold me up when I lose sight of being grateful and get me back into focus.

I am grateful for the opportunites that the Universe has presented and that I have taken to explore new worlds and cultures. I am Grateful for my education,
for the many jobs I’ve had:
but they pale in comparison,
with my loving Mom and Dad.
I am Grateful for my Family,
my sisters, children and Wife;
loving unconditionally,
the secret to a Rich Life.
To have a Happy, Healthy life,
and Wealth beyond our Dreams;
It does not matter what we do
For Gratitude it seems;
Is the real Secret to all there is,
and all that will ever be.
And so I am ever Grateful for;
God, my Life and Liberty.

Collossians 3:15-17
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
Every day I am thankful and start my day with thanks - as I sit here what is there to be thankful for?
The food I’m eating (chilli con carne)
The people who pick the rice
The people who herd the cows
The people who work in slaughter doing a job I am glad I don’t have to do
The people who made the bowl I am eating from and the spoon I use
The laptop I am using to type this
Having fingers to I can type
Having eyes so I can see the screen
No longer having problems with RSI
The people who make the computers
For the money that allowed me to buy the computer
For the skills I have been given to be able to earn the money to afford the computer
The couch I am sitting on
The cushion I am leaning against
I am warm when others are cold
I have a roof when others are without shelter
I eat when others starve
It’s limitless - look around you at all the things that are taken for granted
I’m thankful for the challenges that have made me stronger
Thankful for my wonderful family - my brothers and sisters and Mother and Father
My person family with my daughter and wife
My friends
..
Warmly
Paul

I know it’s slightly passed Valentine’s day but I’m so grateful for the best love note that I’ve ever received. It’s found in the Bible at John 3:16.
For God so loVed the world,
That He gAve
His onLy
BegottEn
SoN
That whoever
Believes In Him
Should Not perish,
But have Everlasting life.
God loves us like no one else ever could. He showed that love when He sent His Son, Jesus, to be our Saviour. He’s also the best companion we’ll ever have.
God Bless YOU & Yours!

I have so many things to be grateful for that i always try to think positively even when things aren’t going as i would want. I usually find out that there was a good reason for whatever was happening! I am so grateful for my husband who has been by my side for 30 years, my two wonderful children and their partners, my gorgeous grandchildren. Also my parents, who have always put their children first and are always there for any of us. I am grateful for a very special friend who is honest, wise, funny, loyal, truthful and a soulmate on my spiritual path.

Nice poem and video! Yes, so inspiring, it shows that we as a person should be grateful everyday for what we have in our lives, the blessings we received, the sweetness a life can offer us and above all let us be grateful that love lays in our hearts and peace in our minds because that is the key to have freedom of our soul. Yes life is so beautiful!

Each day on rising from the comfort of my sleep
A secret promise made in earnest-
Escapes my lips and whispered secrets keep
I’m grateful that my life be never dull
But hope, and love above all else
Does keep my vessel full.

I am grateful to be part of a global gratitude project in South Africa, where we also collect messages of gratitude from all over the world and place them in a beautiful garden of Gratitude for the community to enjoy. I am also grateful to see that there are many projects to create an awareness of Gratitude so that there will be healing of the planet and it’s inhabitants.

I have found that in every situation we can find a reason to be grateful. Whenever I have had challenges I have gratitude for the network of friends I have. I am grateful for this site and to see others living in gratitude. I wear a pendant from waves of gratitude that reminds me of all life has to offer. Give it Live it, gratitude.

I am amazed at how a man like me can be so ungrateful at times. It must be sin to be caught up striving yet forgetting the goodness of God . Reasons to be glad:
- I am cancer free.
-I am physically pain free.
-I have a very smart and thoughtful wife who still laughs at my jokes.
- I have two strong young sons, fully grown and facing the challenge of life. I know they will call on God again one day as well.
- I have a Dad who came home every night from work ,did not mistreat his family and did not give himself to mindless ambition.
-I can see out these eyeballs and witness Gods glory before me.
- I can mentally process what I see.
- I still have a job to go to.
- I have a daily opportunity to serve Gods higher purposes.
- I live in America.
- I live in Northern California. . . a scenic and clean area with all the elements of the big city . Advantages and problems.
To me I am a grievous sinner if I am not mindful of the favor I have received from God. Help me Lord not to take your kindness for granted like the spoiled modern American I am.
Forgive me Lord for my stupid hissy fits that usually are rooted in selfish fear and impatience. I have forgotten the mercy of my God. -Esteve

I’m grateful for the chance to open my eyes every morning and know that I have another day to live to the full - to meet new people, see things I have never seen before and share all of the joys (and sorrows) of life with the people who mean the most to me: My princess (the most beautiful in every way) Silvia, my family and all of my precious friends. I am grateful for every single one of the wonderful people I have been blessed to have in my life.

Even though I am a person liable to always seeing the glass half empty as opposed to half full, I am grateful for the way I am. I may be like a wave in the sea, once up and once down, but that just keeps my life away from monotony and numbness….in today’s world of many pleasures but heartaches too, I am grateful for having a deep heart which despite having suffered a lot itself remains open and welcoming to others. i am grateful for the joy and laugther I give to my close ones and friends and the joy and laugther I receive in doing so.

I am grateful for so many things both big and small. I’m grateful for my life, my husband, and children. I am grateful for living in the United States and all the freedoms and comforts it offers. I am most of all grateful for God. Without Jesus in my life my life would not be as blessed as it is.

I am so grateful for my garden. I am grateful that I can walk out the back door and pick a fresh head of brocolli. I am grateful for the birds attracted to my garden and the cheer they bring in their singing. I am grateful for the beauty peace and colour, and the ecosystem that thrives and survives in nature at one with nature. I am grateful that I have a garden and can garden and can play in my garden. I am grateful that others can enjoy and share in it to. I am grateful that nature has repaid me so graciously and harmoniously with food and flowers and it is all organic. I am grateful for the knowledge that anything removed is replaced and returned, and I am grateful that spring is nearly here and the garden is awakening, oh joy, I am so grateful. Thankyou Clare x

Dear Stewart,
Showing gratitude is the easiest way to create more prosperity. Even having all the money in the world is not a sure way for feeling wealthy. The richest people in the world are some of the poorest people in spirit.
So I am grateful for being able to be grateful.
I may not have millions in the bank, but I am grateful for all that I have.
I feel abundant, because I see the abundance around us.
I am grateful for all that God has created for us to enjoy.
I am grateful for all the love and prosperity God created for us to enjoy…
I am grateful for being able to feel joy…the emotion of love…
I could go on for a while, but I’ll leave it at this.
Love and forever grateful.
Mimi

I am grateful to have seen a vast amount of this wonderful planet, and to have met so many wonderful people from so many different cultures.
We are all one and the same; it’s time to let go of the ego and we must strive to be more accepting and loving and to embrace our differences.

Stewart,
What a wonderful idea.
I am grateful for all my life experiences. For they have brought me to where I am today. I am grateful for my health, family, friends, career, and mind. I have only recently started making sure that I tell God all the things I am grateful for on a daily basis. I was doing research for a Website I am working on, when I came across your site. So, I am grateful for having this opportunity to share with you why I am grateful.
Thank you,
Jerry Petersen

I am grateful that my brother-in-law shared this site with me. He helped me remember, at a time when I am feeling stressed, that I have been blessed. Above everything I am grateful for God’s grace and forgiveness. Everyday that I try and fail to be a better person, he allows me to start again. Thank you God for: your son, Jesus, my family, my health, my job, my friends, and my basic needs being met above and beyond many. Thank you for the reminder, Stewart. God is using you to reach others. God Bless~

Hello Stewart!
I came across your website today and just had to write you an email!
I work for an organization called Agents of Change Global Movements. We are a youth empowerment/humanitarian organization. We strongly believe Gratitude is truly the first step in the right direction. We host seminars (fun ones!) and go to schools to spread the word of Gratitude to our youth! We have many other projects on the go in alignment with Gratitude.
We strongly support your vision!!!
I listened to your poem, it was beautiful. I deeply felt the Gratitude you shared with each line.
Thank you for your wonderful mission!
With Infinite Love and Gratitude,
-Deanna Wilson
P.S I tried to send this to the support (at) a littlegratitude.com but was un deliverable.

I’m just grateful that I can view gratitude now as a tool- used to think that gratitude should come naturally and other people were born with the gift, but not me. Now, I know it can be cultivated.
Also, I realize that the process of gratitude is the important thing for me
So thank you for this opportunity to share some gratitude!

This is a great blog. Have any of you heard of the movie The Gratitude Experiment? It is an upcoming film by the creator of The Opus (www.TheOpusMovie.com) You can see the trailer at (www.MMPWmovies.com) It is very interested and places Gratitude, faith and science all in the balance. Which is the most important? I enjoyed his first film very much. I think this next one will be very interesting as well.
